SETTING UP A HOME LAB

If you are an Electronics Enthusiast then you should have your own Mini home electronics laboratory. This will enhance your imagination and understanding of the subject. This guide will help you to learn how to set up an electronic lab. Here, I'll tell you about basic tools which we compulsory required in our lab.

Work Area:-

Make sure you have an insulated or wooden table while working. You will also need an AC supply while working with electronics, many times you need an AC supply to run some devices like soldering iron, lamps, etc.

Tools We Need:-

To perform numerous types of tasks & experiments, We will need several tools. Always try to utilize good-quality tools. You can get most of the tools from thrift stores, hardware, and power shops or you can also buy from an online store. Here we are describing basic tools used for electronic and electrical works.

1. Digital Multimeter:

A multimeter is the most important tool because this is a measuring instrument it can measure Voltage, Resistance, Current, Capacitance, Continuity path in the circuit. This multimeter can measure both values means AC & DC Supply Unit. That's why this is the most important tool.

Soldering Station:-

There are different types of soldering machines are available in the market. You will get Removable tip soldering iron As well as a hot air gun means an SMD soldering machine. But if you are a beginner then I'll suggest you buy a simple soldering iron. I also suggested a soldering iron link at the bottom. So why do we need a Hot Air gun because We can't solder small SMD components using soldering iron because the SMD components are very small in size, So we need a special soldering machine therefore we use an SMD hot air gun to solder all SMD components on PCB. Some soldering irons come with an adjustable temperature nob which is useful to control the temperature of the iron.

Bench Power Supply:-

The bench power supply system is very important because without proper supply we can't test any circuit, we can achieve proper supply value for testing the components or circuit. In most of the experiments, we required up to 35V DC supply so I recommended you choose the bench power supply of the 35V DC.

Shear Cutter:-

Generally, we use a shear cutter to cut the plastic sheets, PCBs, wire, or metal sheets. It is very useful to cut wires easily.

Wirecutter/Strippers:-

A wire stripper is an essential tool in an electronic lab to cut or remove the insulation of the wire to make the electrical connection.

Tweezers:-

Tweezers are very useful to manipulate small electronic components. The end of the tweezer has a small and pointed tip. Which is perfect for electronics.

Nose Pliers:-

The Plier is designed to hold small objects and are very useful for pushing wires into breadboard hole.

Precision Screwdriver kit:-

While working on a project we need to tight or lose the screw of the frame. We recommend you get a set take comes with extension bits because you will need all of them sooner or later.

Breadboard:-

The breadboard is the most important kit while making electronics projects. Because before making any project or circuit we need to test the circuit. Is the circuit working properly, to check it we make a demo circuit of the project & then we can test it on the breadboard without soldering components, we just need to place components on the breadboard & we can easily check our circuit before making the actual circuitry.

Adjustable joint pliers:-

These pliers are used to turn nuts and bolts. Useful for gripping the objects with irregular shape and clamping material.

Voltage detector:-

A quick way to check the presence of live voltage on AC circuits, Switches, and outlets before working on them.

Hand Drill:-

A simple hand drill does a remarkable job of drilling through plastic, wood, metal, PCB board.

Component Box:-

This is essential for keeping a large number of components, which are accumulated during the course of building many circuits.

Small Magnifier:-

In electronics components, there are SMD components that are very small in size we can't see them properly without the magnifiers. Also, each component has its package name printed on it & it's very small in size so that time we need a magnifier to read the package name of the components.
