Hello, In today's article we are going to make an Interesting project using some electronics components & sensors, We are going to make an "Automatic Room Light Using PIR Sensor" you can also use this project as an Automatic Staircase Light Using PIR Sensor. When someone gets to enter the room at that moment the light gets Automatically turns ON & gets turns Off when no one is present in the room. You can adjust the Sensitivity & delay time of the system by adjusting variable potentiometers on the PIR Sensor. We use a PIR sensor (Passive Infrared Sensor) to detect the presence of a human. When this sensor detects any person it triggers the relay and results in an electric bulb connected across it getting turned On & turn off. You can implement this project in your Room, Kitchen, Bathroom, Garage, Store Room, Stairs also on your working / Study table to control the light automatically.

This system also helps you to save electricity, because sometimes we get forget to turn off the light when we were going outside, but don't worry because this system saves your electricity & turn off the light when there is no person in the home / Room.

PIR Sensor:-

PIR Sensor means Passive Infrared Sensor. This is an electronics device/sensor which detected the light radiation level emitted by the body or subject. This sensor detects the movement of humans or animals by their body heat radiation. This sensor detects only humans & Animal means living things. This PIR sensor is mostly used in Burglar alarms & Security systems.

In the above image, you can see the pinouts of the PIR sensor. You can supply this sensor with 5V-12V DC Supply & the resultant output voltage will be 3.3V.To control the Delay you just need to adjust the Delay time pot & for Distance/sensitivity simply adjust the Distance pot gradually as per your requirement.

Working Of The Project:-

In this project we use a PIR sensor to detect human movement, We also use a Relay to control The AC load means AC Bulb. When any movement of human or animal gets detected by PIR Sensor its output pin gets high & respectively base pin of transistor gets trigger & resulting the relay get turn On which turn on the light. When there is no movement the relay gets remains to turn off until the human movement gets detected by PIR Sensor.
